Modern Offerings One of the things that amused me when I was in Bali was the juxtaposition of offerings with new technologies and goods, such as this Volkswagon Beetle. Here the rich tradition of providing a daily rice offering has evolved into the placement of rice on Ritz crackers, with candy in a plastic wrapper, secured to the car’s front license plate. Perhaps if we also made daily offerings for our cars, they wouldn’t give us trouble? Photo by Colin Donohue. |
